Susan Rice

Susan Elizabeth Rice, 56, a native of Union, was the daughter of the late Clara Mae Rice. She departed this earthly life Friday, April 14, 2023 at her home.

Susan was affectionately known by family and friends as “Sue Cat”. She attended Union County Schools and was a former employee of Ellen Sagar Nursing Home. Sue Cat was a happy, free spirit that loved life and enjoyed playing softball and 52’s. She loved spending time with her grandkids, family and friends. She always maintained a positive, caring attitude and faced life’s challenges with extraordinary courage.

Susan was preceded in death by her mother, Clara Mae Rice; brothers Mack Arthur Rice, James “Pig” Rice, Lonnie Rice, and Douglas Rice; grandsons BrentayVian Ladryk Rice and Sincere Kyrie Rice; and a special niece Nastaya Worthy.

She leaves precious memories to her children: sons, Jesse, Derrick and Erick Rice; her daughter Jessica Rice; brothers, Robert and Ernest Rice; sisters, Catherine N. Jones and Barbara Rice, all of Union, Alice Rice of Virginia, and Janie M. Mickles of Gaffney; a special grandson, Monterius “Scooter” Dawkins, Jr.; a very special niece, Tenkia Stevenson; a favorite cousin, Eddie Dean Salter; a favorite nephew, Calvin Rice; 14 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
