Ruth Estelle Hunnicutt Wicker

Ruth H. Wicker, age 94, of Whitmire, SC passed away at her home on May 08, 2024. 'Mama Ruth' as she was affectionately called for the last 50+ years, was one month from celebrating her 95th birthday. She was the widow of Charles L. Wicker. Mama Ruth was born June 13, 1929 in Laurens, SC to the late Robert Lewis Hunnicutt and Myrtle Nelson Hunnicutt. Mama Ruth loved to work in her yard. In the evening, you would usually see her on the front porch swinging in the swing built for her by her late husband, Papa Charles. She also loved to cook and looked forward to Sunday dinner when everyone was there with her. If the kitchen table was full, she was happy! Mama Ruth is survived by one daughter, Amelia Shields and her husband Tommy; her three sons, Stanley Wicker and his wife Darlene, David Wicker and his wife Teresa, and Bill Wicker; her 98 year old sister, Beverly H. Senn of Whitmire; multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Mama Ruth was predeceased by a granddaughter, Shelly Elizabeth Wicker, a brother Billy R. Hunnicutt, and a sister Judy H. May. A private family memorial will be held with burial in the Whitmire Cemetery, Whitmire, SC.
