Obituary

  Rev. Hasford John Cribb, Jr., a retired local pastor of the United Methodist Church, passed Sunday, Feb. 19, at the Ellen Sager Nursing Home in Union, SC. Rev. Cribb was born on July 5, 1935. Rev. Cribb, awarded the Conference Denman Award for Evangelism in 2006, served 10 UMC churches throughout South Carolina, including Unity and Sardis in Union, SC., and churches in the Marion, Walterboro and Florence districts of the United Methodist Church. He had served as chair of the SC Conference Fellowship of Local Pastors and the Conference Executive Committee as well as the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry. Cribb was predeceased by a wife, Patricia, a son, Charles, and a stepson, Jack Turner Garner. His survivors include his wife, Louise G. Cribb from Union; two sons, John III from San Luis Obispo, California and Wesley of Fort Worth, Texas; and a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Allison. He had four grandchildren. Cribb was a graduate of the Course of Study at Duke University, where he was president of the COS student body. Arrangements are still being made for his service, planned to be held at his home church Unity UMC in Union, SC.
