Ms. Helen Ruth Jeter Moorman of Union, South Carolina 65, died Sunday, February 12 at the
Spartanburg Hospice House in Spartanburg, SC. Helen was a graduate of the Union High School
Class of 1978, and she attended Spartanburg Technical College. From an early age, Helen proudly
sang alongside her mother, sisters, and brother in the gospel group The Ellen Moorman Singers.
Helen’s favorite songs were “I Got Religion” and “This Little Light of Mine."
Helen was preceded in death by her mother, Ellen Mae Jeter Moorman, and her father, Kinard
“Sonny” Moorman; two brothers: Thomas Jeter and Sammy Moorman. Helen was a member of
Maple Ridge Baptist Church where she served as a member of the Missionary Circle and the Maple
Ridge Adult Choir. In addition, she was a long-time employee of Hardees of Union. She is survived
by her son Kinard Demond Moorman; two sisters-her twin Ellen Mae Jeter Moorman Davis, and Marietta
(Rhetta) Jeter; one niece, Aquiser Jeter; nephews Tommy Jeter, Jr.; Torrence Jeter (Bear), David
(Carl) Jeter, Corey Smith, and Calvin Jeter; one sister-in- law, Geraldine Jeter; a god-daughter,
Amber Tucker; special cousins, Minister Sharon Hall, Minister Barbara Moorman Worthy, Dr. Fran
M. Adams, and Gwendolyn Tucker.
Also, left to cherish fond memories is her uncle: Jessie James Moorman, two aunts, Evangelist
Queen Stevens and Geneva Jones, and a host of other cousins, family, and friends.
Helen loved people, but most of all, she had an enormous love for children. Helen will surely be
missed but not forgotten.
