George Alton Moore Jr.

Mr. George Alton Moore Jr. 76, a treasured father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully on Friday March 31 2023 at Brookstone Terrace Assisted Living Home in Woodruff SC with family at his bedside. Mr. Moore was born in Enoree SC on January 16 1947 to the late George Alon Moore Sr. and Margaret Christina Dunn Moore. Mr. Moore was a member of First Baptist Church in Carlisle SC, a Mason, and served in the SC National Guard. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad, he was former fire chief of Carlisle volunteer fire department and had a passion for his family friends and community. He was predeceased by his sister Frances Downey. Her leaves behind his children Jason Moore, Gena Varner (Nick), and Leslie Moore Ackerman, God daughter Brandi Hodge Monroe (Chad), brother Michael Moore, brother-in-law Chuck Downey, his grandchildren Kayla Moore, Shyla Trammell, Ellie Varner, Emmie Varner, Sara Ackerman, Madison Sirisky- Merril, William Craine, Terry Jett, and Savannah Salway, great grandchildren Malachi Smith, Skyla Campbell, A'Nylah Smith, and Kyngston Davis and a host of nieces and nephews. He will deeply be missed by all. A celebration of life will be held at Lewis Funeral Home and Crematory Thursday April 6 2023 at 5pm. Visitation will be held at 4pm prior to the service.
