Gail Reid Obituary
Mrs. Gail Norman Reid, 86, of Wilson Landing Road,
Prosperity, SC, passed away on Monday, October
2, 2023, at Generations of Chapin Assisted Living. Born
January 2, 1937, in Greenville, South Carolina, she was
the daughter of the late Ray Allen and Grace Jones
Norman. Mrs. Reid worked for over 30 years for the Union
County School system and later at Excelsior Mill. She
was a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church in
Prosperity. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Mr.
Richard Jenkins Reid. Surviving is a sister, Lenora
(Bootsy) Townes, of Pickens, SC. Also surviving are a
son Col. Jenks Reid, US Army (Ret.) and wife Tina of
Suffolk, VA; a daughter, Libby R. Hutchison and husband
Greg of Prosperity; five grandchildren: John McCarthy
(Jessica), Zac McCarthy (Amy), Erin McCarthy, Luke Reid
(Morgan), Nick Reid; and three great-grandchildren: Abby
Simon, Eva McCarthy, and Laney Reid. A memorial
service will be held Saturday, October 7, at 2 PM at
Macedonia Lutheran Church with Pastors Terry Hundley
and Randy Derrick officiating. The family will receive
friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
Memorials may be made to Macedonia Lutheran Church
Family Life Center. Lewis Funeral Home of Union has
charge of the arrangements.
