Gabriel Layne Sturkey

Gabriel Layne Sturkey, 20, of 182 Alexander Road Whitmire SC passed away Wednesday May 22 2024. Gabriel was born July 31 2003 a son of Brandon Sturkey of the home and Lora Vinson. Gabriel was a student at Piedmont Technical College where he was studying welding. Surviving in addition to his father and mother are a very special aunt Tosha Lyda whom Gabriel called Mama and her husband Scott Lyda, two brothers Dominique Vinson, Kason Lyda, a sister Brynlee Lyda, his maternal grandmother Lisa Villani, maternal great grandmother Barbara Nelson, and two maternal aunts Jessica and Dana Vinson. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Ronnie Vinson and paternal grandparents Debera and Dennis Sturkey. Funeral services will be held Sunday May 26 2024 at 4pm at Pine Ridge Baptist Church with Pastor Kenny Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at Whitmire Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-4pm at the Church prior to the service. Pallbearers include Kevin Peay, Joseph Dillard, Hunter Alexander, Peyton Crumpton, Chandler Crumley and Fred Strubeck. Lewis Funeral Home and Crematory has charge of the arrangements.
