Cora Lee Mobley
Retired from the U.S. Forestry Service
Cora Lee Mobley passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at the home of her daughter, Judy Brannon, after a short illness.
Cora Lee was born on April 16, 1936 to the late Preston and Lizzie Jeter Mobley. She was a member of Jeter Chapel AME Church and a member of the Hubberettes Choir and the Missionary Society. She retired from the U.S. Forestry Service. She loved cooking and fishing. Cora Lee is survived by one son, James R. (Tasha) Mobley of Boiling Springs, S.C.; four daughters: Geraldine (Leroy) Thompson, Judy Brannon, Debra Ann Rice (Curtis Rice, Jr.) and Brenda Lee Mobley, all of Union; one sister, Lottie C. Jennings of Union; one daughter-in-law, Darlene R. Mobley of Union; one sister-in-law, Bertha J. Mobley of Carlisle; 22 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Jeanette Mobley; one son, David Lewis Mobley; three brothers, James W. "J.W." Mobley, Preston Mobley Jr. and John "Bro" Mobley; five sisters, Helen
"To-Lou" Mobley, Hattie Mae Mobley, Bernice Mobley Jeter, Willie Mae Tucker and Anitha "Neet" Jeter;
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Anthony Washington, Pastor Tab Hunter, Prophetess Eva Lee Thompson and Apostle Dudley Thompson III. Burial will be in Jeter Chapel Church Cemetery.
Viewing will be today, Tuesday, June 22, from 1-7 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Geraldine and Leroy Thompson, 103 Green St., Union.
