Charles “Charlie” Ray Moss, 78, passed away Monday, February 10th 2025 at Bevid Place after an extended battle with dementia. Charlie was born April 15, 1946 in Union County, the son of the late Ruby Garner and Paul Moss. He was a member of Mon-Aetna Baptist Church, Elks Lodge 1321, Masonic Lodge 75 and Hejaz Shrine Temple.
Charlie was a man of many occupations, having worked at Conso, Wallace Thomson Hospital, and previously owned a Christmas tree farm. In his free time, Charlie coached Union County Dixie Youth Baseball for many years.
Prior to his health decline, Charlie was an avid hunter, a devoted South Carolina Gamecocks fan, enjoyed being an umpire for Union County youth baseball, and loved spending time with his beloved friends at Elks Lodge No. 1321.
Surviving family members include daughters Sandy Moss and husband Mark of Union, Madey Moss of Gaston, Abi Moss of Gaston and sons, Joey Moss and wife Sue of Irmo, and Corey McCutcheon and wife Katie of Boiling Springs; grandchildren Brittany Hanvey and husband Alex of Moore, Meagan Smith and husband Kierre of Union, Marybeth Moss of Irmo and Sydney Moss of Irmo and great grandchildren Hallie and Olivia Smith and Nate Hanvey. He is also survived by one sister, Paula Williams and husband Mike of Laurens and brother (in-law) Richard Baldwin of Union and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Linda Baldwin and a brother, Dennis “Bimbo” Moss.
Visitation will be held Wednesday February 12 2025 from 2-3pm at Lewis Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 3pm at Lewis Funeral Home conducted by his grandson, Alex Hanvey. The family requests privacy at this time.
