Bonnie Stewart Obituary

In Loving Memory
Of
Bonnie Gail Stewart
Bonnie Gail Stewart, 63, a longtime resident of Union, South
Carolina expired on July 9, 2021, at her home.
Bonnie was born on May 22, 1958 in Beacon, New York to the late Willie Stewart, Jr, and
Evelyn Smith Stewart. The birth of Bonnie brought so much joy. She was a bouncing baby - full
of life.
Bonnie was affectionately known as Big Bunt, Grandma, and Bun Bun by family members.
When you saw Bonnie, you would always be greeted with a smile, a joke, and an affectionate
hug. She loved her family and friends and they loved her just as much.
Bonnie’s education started in Beacon, NY and after her family relocated to South Carolina, she
graduated from Union High School in 1976. She also attended Spartanburg Technical College
and USC-Union. Bonnie was employed with Excelsior, Conso, Greenleaf and Torrington.
Having been taught the virtues of her Savior, Jesus Christ, at an early age, Bonnie joined St.
James A.M.E. Church in Beacon, New York where she attended Sunday School and a member
of the Youth Choir. She was a faithful member of the Chambertown Community Lighthouse
under the spiritual teachings of Apostle Tyra “Trina” Parham. Apostle Parham referred to Bonnie
as her little “Missionary,” as she loved gathering up people - friends and strangers, and have
them make the journey with her to church.
Her life was filled with plenty joy, happiness and celebration. Faith, Shanitra, Aria and her long-
life friend, Sarah, were the treasures of her life. She was always in her comfort zone in their
presence —whether it was playing tennis; barbecuing and listening to Soul and Gospel music,
dancing or simply winning arguments with them. She enjoyed playing basketball with friends
and let her tell it – she never lost a game. She also took pleasure and joy in babysitting her
granddaughter, great granddaughter and their friends in the neighborhood. Bonnie and Sarah
rescued a kitten, Snap, that they loved and cared for over 15 years.
Memories are priceless treasures that we can cherish forever in our hearts. Bonnie’s memories
will be cherished by her daughter, Faith Melissa Stewart; granddaughter, Shanitra Evelyn
