Mrs. Bennie Mae Good Jeter, 92 of 215 Goings Lane, Union, South Carolina, and widow of the late Lewis “June” Jeter, Jr., entered eternal rest on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 7:13 pm at the Spartanburg Medical Center.
Bennie Mae was the eldest daughter of the late Mamie Bridget Good Jeter, and the late Gonzlee Washington and the stepdaughter of the late Charlie Jack Jeter.
Bennie Mae was educated in the Public School System of Union County. She committed her life to Christ and was baptized by the late Rev. J.R. Ezell, at Bethel Baptist Church at the early age of twelve. She has served in many capacities during her tenure at Bethel Baptist. During her younger years, she served on the Usher Board and was a member of the Sunday School and in her latter years, she served as a member of the Missionary, Pastors Aid, as well as the Mother of the Church.
Bennie Mae was not only predeceased by her husband and parents, but she was also predeceased by six sisters; Corrine Washington Browning, Ednola Good Kershaw, Dorothy Good Beaty, Addie Good Bell, Dorothy Smith- Harris, and Kathleen Beam, four brothers; James Ruben Good, Rudolph Good, SM Good, and Theearthur Washington, her youngest granddaughter, Marisha Sharay Jeter, a great grandson, Javarous JaQuan Jeter, and a nephew reared in the home, Frank Jeter, Jr.
Bennie Mae is survived by her loving children; Lewis, III (Marie) Jeter, Mamie Jeter-Holmes, Manning Lee (Maretta) Jeter, and Annie Jeter, all of Union, South Carolina. Her grandchildren; Michael Holmes, Jr., Brandi Jeter (Darrell) Brannon, Deirdre Jeter (LaShun) Gregory, Michelle Holmes, Manning “TJ” Jeter, E. Terrelle Cohen, Andre Jeter, Rahim Jeter, and Allen Robinson, all of Union, SC, Timothy (Zora) Cohen of Spartanburg, SC, and Antoinette Wallington (Melvin) Camp of Gaffney, SC. Her great-grandchildren; De’Shaun Holmes, Christopher Lyles, De’janique Gregory, and Langston Jeter, all of Union, SC, Kiana Cohen, of Atlanta, GA, Jada Jeter of Charlotte, NC, Tangela Wallington of Gaffney, SC, Briasha Williams, Kellya White, JaMichael English, Sharina Johnson, D’Andre Wallington, Roderick Wallington, and Darrell “DJ” Brannon, Jr. of Spartanburg, SC; eight great great grandchildren; her sister; Margie Good Wicks of Jonesville, SC, her brother; Theophilus Good of Boston, Mass, and her God-daughter; Jamie Smith of Union, SC, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Bennie Mae was a domestic worker by profession, having worked for Dr. and Mrs. V. Randolph Hawkins for 54 years and helped raise and nurture their three daughters, Deborah Sue Teeples, Virginia Christina Elihes, and Mary Cecil Parker. She also worked for numerous other families throughout the county, one in particular was Mr. and Mrs. J.N. Berry.
