Mrs. Virginia Gardener, 69, of 221 Bird Street, Union, widow of Mr. Freddie James Gardener Sr., died Friday August 24th 2018 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Gardener was born November 17th 1948 a daughter of the late Amos Jeter and May Ruth Johnston. Mrs. Gardener was a graduate of Sims High School class of 1967. She was known for her employment at Carlsan Headstart where she was employed for 22 years. She was also known for her sweet spirit. Survivors include two daughters Leatha Neal (William) of Spartanburg, Vernice Glenn (Eric) of Jonesville, one son Freddie James Gardener Jr. (Dorothy) of Union, one brother Kendall Johnston, and three sisters Shirley Nevius, Lucinda Moses and Pandora Johnston, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the home at 1pm Saturday September 1st. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
