Dr. Robert Anthony Yannetti

 Dr. Robert Anthony Yannetti; of 1052 Church Street, Whitmire, South Carolina; died Sunday September 2nd, 2018 at Greenville Memorial Hospital at the age of 65. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mrs. Karen Yannetti. Dr. Yannetti was born October 9th 1952, in Camden, New Jersey; the son of Robert Anthony Yannetti and the late Gertrude O’Brien Yannetti. He was raised in Pennsauken, New Jersey.

He attended Clemson University, where he earned a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in zoology. He then went on to earn a medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Yannetti completed his residency at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; where he earned the title of Chief Resident in his third year. 

After completing his residency, Dr. Yannetti moved to Whitmire, South Carolina. He opened his practice, Piedmont Medical Associates, which specialized in internal medicine. His practices in Whitmire and Union served those communities for 34 years. 

Dr. Yannetti served on the board at Wallace Thompson Hospital in Union, South Carolina; where he also served as Chief of Staff. He served on the Whitmire Town Council and was a member of the Whitmire High School Athletic Booster Club. Dr. Yannetti was a member of the Whitmire Presbyterian Church. 

Surviving, in addition to his wife and father ; are two daughters, Diana Elizabeth Yannetti and Julia Yannetti Kerber (James) all of Columbia, one brother William Yannetti (Marjorie) of Chesapeake, VA, and three grandchildren Giana, Anthony and Olivia. 

Funeral services will be held Friday September 7th at 1:30pm at the Lewis Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel. Burial will follow at Whitmire Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday September 6th from 6pm to 9pm at the funeral home. 

Serving at pallbearers are Billy Gilliam, Billy “Boo” Gilliam, Michael Thomas, John Roche, Galen Roche, and John McCarley. The Piedmont Medical Staff, the Billy Gilliam Family, Sandy Jeter, the Blair Robertson Family, the Carley Farmer Family, and Dr. John and Melissa Flood are asked to sit in a group.
